Visual Equations

These are some of my visual equations. They are very simple but I think they are quite effective, i have used opposites and simple line drawn illustrations to create my pieces.

Glyphs and Symbols

Glyphs?!?! I found this very confusing of what a glyph actually was but I think that what I did manage to come up with is a glyph? Heres what I came up with for this part of the unit.

Editorial Illustration

This is my editorial Illustration based around the regeneration of Poole. I spoke to locals in Poole about the regeneration and they did not see that there was anything going on so my piece is about people being confused between the apparent difference in old town Poole and new town Poole.

Dada Illustration

I created my Dada style poem with newspaper cut outs and came up with "charged bloke racist brits hospital madness gangster brats save them don't fear them join in". I decided to draw a picture of an angry man and have him colour in with the union jack. I then wanted the words save them don't fear them join in around it. Here is the start of my piece.

Grids and Layouts

This is a piece creating using a grid and any objects I had lying around in my bag. I had to come up with an interesting layout that represented me but only using things in my bag and staying inside the grid given.

Letterpress

Never done letterpress and didn't know what it was (eventhough its a give away in the name) but here some of the pieces I came up with relating the brief given. I think that "outside the box" was the most successful piece but would be better if I had printed it slightly straighter.

Visual Analysis

557 words later and the analysis is finally done! I think over the summer I forgot how to write an essay or even put a sentence together as it took me hours to get the first few words on the page. Visual analysis's are not my strong point.

Type and Tape

Creating a typeface out of tape was harder than I thought it would be as there seemed so much to think about. Apart from having to work in the freezing cold it was a good day and I think our piece was pretty successful (maybe slightly offensive?). So here it is .... SPESHAL =)

First Post

Completely confused by blogs and have been stuck for a while deciding what to actually put on here! But here goes first post.... just a few pictures from my project I did over the summer based around smoking and how its perceived to be a very cool and glamorous thing to do until you get hooked and you realise how much money your spending on it and what it does to your health (I should know being a smoker!) Enjoy ...
